Canada lost a friend today. An artist. A poet. A social activist. A musician. He was just a guy that sang for a band. A band made up of his high school friends. He was a dad and husband. He was a friend to politicians and stars. He wrote about Canada-our country, our game, our downfalls and our beauty. We all knew it was coming and the few million of us who didn’t know him personally pushed it to the back of our minds. And I’m probably not alone, tho I sit alone right now, in saying my heart hurts and I can’t stop crying. I feel like I lost a friend. RIP Gord Downie. Thank you for leaving us your legacy. We will all try to remember that your music made you happy- just as it will make us happy again one day soon.
Canada is crying.
